I've had 4 quotes and everyone is quoting me different sizes and different types of equipment. There's a huge differential in pricing and I don't understand why all the warranties are not the same. Why does this have to be so convoluted and confusing?
You've likely heard horror stories from others about their lousy experience with a contractor or perhaps you've had a bad experience yourself. What truly are the differences from one contractor to the next?
What is the difference between Lennox, Trane and Carrier? What about York, Goodman, Keeprite and all the others? Is there truly a big price difference in the equipment of is there something I'm missing?
It's not rocket science... is it? Why can't you tell me a price over the phone? Why don't you show pricing on your website? Do you really have to go back to the office to work out a price? Have you never done this before?
You've had 3 salespeople visit your home and all three have quoted you the same furnace brand, model# and size, yet there's a significant difference in price between the three quotes. Is the cheapest price indeed the best value or is there something they're not telling me?
I left 3 messages and no one returned my call until Monday morning. In the meantime I had to pay another company after-hours to come and fix my 2 year old furnace".... or... "I was on hold for so long that I got frustrated and called another company. The other company was so fast that they dispatched a service technician that arrived before my service provider had even answered the phone."
Why is everyone quoting me a different size furnace and A/C? What is the right size for my house? How can you guarantee the size you quoted is going to maintain my desired comfort level? I don't want to spend more than I have to, but I also have to guarantee that I can keep my family comfortable on the coldest and hottest days of the year, and every day in between.
Why is there such a difference in price? Are your installers certified? Do they have refrigeration licenses? Is an electrical permit required? Do you pull the permit? What are the limitations of your licensing with respect to electrical and plumbing work? What is required to bring my new system up to code? Are you going to do that work? Is a thermostat included? Do I need a new thermostat? What about filtration and humidifiers? Will the A/C you quoted me work with my existing furnace?
I wasn't planning for a big expense like this. I don't know if I have enough room on my credit card(s). Do they offer financing. I heard a lot of people are renting but is that the best way to go? How much is a new furnace? Should I be installing a heat pump instead of an air conditioner? Will I get a better deal if I buy everything at the same time? How much will I save? What other costs do I have to be aware of? Will my new furnace work with my older air conditioner?
